Plugged drain holes under a bed liner spell trouble. A plugged drain hole is bad enough any time but if it happens under a liner you might not ever know If that condition persists over time it’s almost for sure going to be an expensive problem. We found one bed liner that the installation took only 15 minute, with virtually no prep time. In the past several years there has not been very much innovation in the bed liner market (until now), especially when you compare them to the trucks themselves. Here are our thoughts on the carpet bed liner. This type of bed liner requires the most time for installation usually about 45 minutes to an hour. They use double sided tape and velcro to secure the bed liner to the truck, and the pieces of the bed liner are held together by zippers. I would not attempt to put this type of bed liner in without being very mechanically inclined. I found that if you haul any heavy cargo it has a tendency to pull out the liner with the cargo. Also if the cargo has sharp edges this type of bed liner does not offer much protection against scratching. The rug type bed liner also claims to be stain resistant, if this is same type of stain resistance that my carpet in my house offers, I would hate to spill anything like oil or grease on it. Sure you may be able to get the stain out eventually, but carpet is more difficult to clean thoroughly as compared to the drop in bed liners or even the hybrid bed liner.

Ford Motor Company is one of the greatest automobile manufacturers of all time. They started under Henry Ford in Detroit, Michigan. Ford had a skill for craftsmanship when he built an experimental car in 1896. It was a twin cylinder engine with potential of 20 mph. More than 15 million cars were made under Ford between 1908 and 1927. It became the all-American automobile. Production increased rapidly over the years while recalling their first million-car year in 1922. As Ford continued to produce they expanded into Great Britain, France, and Germany. Ford became a strong automobile company but needed change as they realized their only color was black. In 1927 the Model T left the market only leading to new and highly innovative automobiles to be created. The Model A became the next popular car but caused a three-month changeover period while production occurred. The price of the Model A was $450, while 4.5 million were sold in the next four years. The car was also sold in a station wagon offering a change in style and shape. In 1932 a V8 3.6 litre automobile was mass-produced for $460 creating a great demand for Ford automobiles. Many cars were introduced over the years featuring new styles. The Model A and B were both sold with larger engines and greater amounts of horsepower. Also hydraulic brakes, column changes, and suspensions were introduced to better the company’s profits.

After World War II production slowed down until the entrance of the 1949 line. At this time power units were new along with the automatic transmission in 1950. Great automobiles were manufactured in the coming years. The sporty Ford Thunderbird was introduced with 5.1 litres and capabilities of 113 mph. In 1958 it became a convertible with five seats and a strengthened structure. Major restyling occurred in the late 1950′s with such automobiles as the Falcon, a compact car, with the help of General Motors and Chrysler.During the 1960′s competition increased and Ford had to become innovative in order to remain one of the top manufacturers. Drop-in bedliners are one option available to you. While these bedliners are fairly rugged, they tend to crack and fade over time. This can be a major problem, as cracking will allow moisture to become trapped in the area between the bed of your truck, and this will produce pitting in your paint and eventually rusting of your truck beds surface. Bedrugs have been around for ages, and had been the only option before the wide-spread use of drop-in and spray-in liners. A bedrug is basically a material of some sort, anything from outdoor carpet to matting, that is pre-cut to the shape of the bed of your truck. They provide for a moderate level of protection against slippage, but they will fail when real speed is applied, and can even slip out of the bed entirely. There have also been incidences of loads coming through the cab of the truck using these systems. All in all, if you’re going to be hauling loads frequently, this is not the choice for you. Dirt and sand get trapped easily between the bed and the bedrug, and it’s also a magnet for moisture, which will produce rust very quickly on an unfinished surface. This will harm the resale value of your truck greatly. These types of bedliners are also shippable, which means no installation fee.

Another option you may consider is a drop-in bedliner. Drop-in bedliners are usually made of a ridgid plastic material, and molded to loosely conform to the shape of the bed of your truck. One very prevalent issue with drop-in bedliners is fading and cracking. If you do have one installed, and you live in an area that gets any type of sun in the summer, look forward to heavy cracking and fading. As with all ridgid plastic materials, after a year or so of constant exposure to the elements it will begin to become brittle.
